After the assassination of his beloved wife Stefania, Matteo DeCanin is a broken man waiting for the big trial in which his testimony against the Camorra is eagerly awaited. He tries in vain to reconnect with his daughter Laura. Estranged from one another the two live under police protection on a small island off the coast of Italy. When Laura escapes from the leniency program, Matteo has to rely on the help of his only confidant, the carabinieri Erlacher. A race against time ensues, as Matteo must find Laura before her life is pitted against his own.
