Following the assassination of his beloved wife Stefania, Matteo DeCanin is a broken man. As the big trial approaches in which his testimony against the Camorra is eagerly awaited, he tries in vain to reconnect with his estranged daughter Laura: father and daughter are living under police protection on a small island off the coast of Italy. When Laura escapes from the witness protection program, Matteo has to rely on the help of his only confidant, Carabinieri Erlacher. A race against time ensues, as Matteo must find Laura before her life is bartered against his own.
