AIRED OCTOBER 2019 ON ARTE
After being out of work for a while, Alina is offered her dream job. But to be able to accept the position, she must hide the fact that she is raising her daughter Lilia on her own. She will have to restructure her life and finally ask her ex, Jarek, to take Lilia to her weekly violin lessons. Lilia and her father, a failed painter, must overcome old grudges to make the ‘joint venture‘ a success. Jarek meets the violin teacher’s family – Clara lives with her husband Bertschi and her three sons, who take a liking to him much faster than his own daughter does. But eventually, Jarek manages to break the ice with Lilia as well, and begins to enjoy the family atmosphere. Except that he is rather withdrawn around Bertschi, who also happens to the city’s patron of the arts. Jarek is simply too proud to befriend him and risk being accused of using his connections for his work. Even after Alina’s employer discovers her secret and she is dismissed from her job, Jarek insists on taking Lilia to her lesson every week. He feels drawn towards Clara but cannot admit this to her. When Lilia gets the chance to join a masterclass with a different teacher, Jarek and Clara lose touch. Until they run into each other a few months later…
